Parents seeking outpatient treatment for SUDs often face unique barriers that decrease their access to services, contribute to missed appointments, and weaken their ability to engage in long-term services. However, outpatient treatment providers may have historically focused on the needs of adults and not families.

This NCSACW resource helps outpatient treatment providers understand: 1) the principles and benefits of a family-centered approach, and 2) practice strategies for implementing this approach in an outpatient setting.
