OVC Webinar: Building Trauma Competencies

Join the OVC TTA Team on May 30th from 1-3 p.m. EST for the Building Trauma Competencies webinar. Increasing community, organizational and personal knowledge around the fundamental concepts of trauma, trauma screening and assessment, and interventions can help improve services for children and families. This two-hour primer is designed to help increase knowledge around trauma and serve as an introduction to key considerations from the current literature and research. The first hour will define trauma and polyvictimization in addition to covering the basics of screening and assessment for trauma. The second hour will review key ingredients in effective evidence-based interventions, including examples of implementation in a trauma informed organization. It will also introduce non-therapeutic considerations, such as the community, environmental and systemic factors that impact those who have experienced trauma.
